Description
The distinguishing feature of the Park Hotel Tokyo’s architecture is the rounded triangular prism form of the building’s profile, setting it out among the many individual and novel constructions in the Shiodome area. The hotel starts at its 25th floor atrium. The atrium soars through the center of the building up all ten floors to the 34th, and allows natural light into the lobby. The trees and plants in the lounge, coupled with the natural light pouring through the glass ceiling of the atrium provide a restful space where one can truly feel the passage of time during the course of day. The person responsible for achieving this modern and comfortable space replete with natural elements is Frédéric Thomas1, a beacon of French contemporary design, who undertook total design of the project. As Thomas puts it, “The ideal is a human lifestyle which is based on a harmony between the culture and nature of the surroundings, with buildings in which people can live.” Dé-Signe was responsible for the hotel’s total design, including logo.
